Can someone please translate this from French to English? From Les Miserables...?

Its the last lines of the book. The book is translated to English but anytime someone is quoting or writing or singing they leave it in the origianl French. I tried dictionary.coms translator but it didnt make sence. This is the phrase:

il dort. Quoique le sort fut pour lui lien etrange, Il vivait. Il mourut quand il n'eut pas son ange; La chose simplement d'elle-meme arriva, Comme la nuit se fait lorsque le jour s'en va.

He sleeps. Although his fate was very strange, he lived. He died when he had no longer his angel. The thing came to pass simply, of itself, as the night comes when day is gone. Can someone please translate this from French to English? From Les Miserables...?
try online translating sites .. maybe it will work .. hope it will ..Can someone please translate this from French to English? From Les Miserables...?
it's been a long time but I think it reads something like this...

he sleeps although the fate was for him was a strange bond and he lived. He died when he did not have an angel. The moment simply arrived, as is like the night begins when the day ends.
Alright, I used another online translator that didn't do too bad, here's the results:

he sleeps. Though fate was for shone etrange link, He lived. He died when he did not have his angel; the thing simply of her - meme arrived, As the night is made when the day leaves.

Though the answer before mine may be better.
