My goal is to become an interpreter. I speak English, Spanish, Creole and French is my mother tongue. I am planning on doing my B.A in Translation in French, English and Spanish and afterwords I would like to complete a Masters in Conference Interpretation. In order to get in, I need to write an admission exams. How can I improve my grammar, written and speaking skills in French, English and Creole so that I can achieve my goal? And what should one do if he or she wants to prepare themselves before getting into this field professionally? How can I become a translator?
There are hundreds of sites in English to improve grammar skills aimed at pupils within the UK. The BBC has a section of it's site aimed at school pupils for example and these are free. I can't see why these shouldn't work for you and I wouldn't be surprised if the same existed for the other languages you speak.

Can someone translate french to english for me?
I have to translate a paragraph. It is about 14 to 15 sentences. I really need someone to translate it for me. Please dont put it into a translator on the internet because those do direct translate which is not always accurate. I am really desperate. If you could give me your email I can send it to you. I would be forever grateful for whoever could do this for me. Thank you.(:Can someone translate french to english for me?
Hi, I won't give my email due to security reasons but if you put that paragraph in the details I may translate it. Good luck.

French-English Translation question?
I'm doing a French to English translation of a text and I can't seem to see clear in one of the questions.
Could anyone who has done translation as a subject help me out with this and give some exemples:
"Explain your strategy for translating the passage, paying particular attention to problems of register, syntax and style which the translator would need to address"French-English Translation question?
In translation, the first thing you need to do is get an understanding of the meaning of a text. Then you write down a rough draft of what it means. Then you work on making that draft clearer. Then you go back to the original and look at things like register, syntax, and style and see if your translation has the same register, syntax, and style. It probably won't. So you'll need to work on it more until you get as close as you can.French-English Translation question?

Well when you are translating from Spanish to English sometimes the words are switched during translation. Maybe that is what it means by explaining your strategy

EDIT- That was feigned indignation- I was just kidding. Yes, I'm fluent, though there's nothing wrong with having it checked by someone else.
EDIT 2: ANGEL- Thanks for the compliment. You're right that "chez vous" sounds better than "dans votre maison"- I translated too literally in that case. As for "fut" or "a 茅t茅", however, I'd say both are OK, even if the pass茅 simple (fut) is admittedly more formal.

English to French translation on 2 specific phrases?
Can anyone who's fluent in French help translate these 2 phrases exactly into French? Preferably France French and not Quebec French (if that might make any difference.)
1) I love the shower at the hotel
2) I love the bed at the hotel
Online translators gave these French translations, respectively.
1) J'aime la douche 脿 l'h么tel
2) J'aime le lit 脿 l'h么tel
Do these give exact translations to the English phrases?
Thanks!English to French translation on 2 specific phrases?
Yes, those are both the correct translations. As someone said, j'adore is more like "love" and j'aime is more like "like" it just depends on exactly how enthusiastic you are about the shower and the bed! J'aime is probably more appropriate.English to French translation on 2 specific phrases?

This is weird and doesn't really make sense. But there you go.HOpe it helps.

Here is the english passage:
In the last episode, Miko and Mara found their parents and killed Kral. Now they were going back to their house in planet Luxor. On the spaceship was Miko, Mara, the parents, Chibot and Solis. All of them were happy to go home. Suddenly their engine lost fuel and they crashed onto the Blue Planet. Luckily, everyone was safe, but now they were lost on the Blue planet. They were in a middle of a large scary forest. The group decided to go look for help and they go into the forest. Many bad things happened in the forest such as a group of aliens attacking them. Finally, they met Rico, a friendly alien who decided to help them. Since Rico owned an electronic store, he decided to help them and lent them an extra spaceship. Everyone was happy, and after a long, dangerous adventure, they flew in Rico’s spaceship, back to Luxor.

The difficulty with automatic translation is that language is an intuitive process and that artificial intelligence is not yet up to par for it.
A computer is unable to deduce by the context whether, for example, the word "like" should be translated to "aime" or to "comme".
As long as AI are not equal to human translation, you will not see an automated translator which can work effectively.English to french translators on messengers?

What college/university is best for an aspiring French translator?
I am a major foreign language fanatic, currently being fluent in both English, Spanish, and French, and I want to know what school is the best to major in the French language. I do not mind if it is out of the United States but I do prefer if it is in the United States. Thank you for your time and and answers. What college/university is best for an aspiring French translator?
Going to school in France would be the best option, but moving overseas is a huge step.
I'd recommend going to McGill University. It's in Montr茅al, so you could immerse yourself in the French language while you're at school. What college/university is best for an aspiring French translator?

I have found the Google Translator to work very well:
http://translate.google.com/#
It offers a large number of languages and for the languages that I know, the translation are quite accurate. I love their swap languages feature. If you are trying to get Spanish to English translation, keep 'from' as English, choose 'into' as Spanish and click on the swap button.
The best part is that it translates while you type. Of course, you can cut and paste a large block of text and get the whole thing translated in one shot.

I even installed babylon to help but it didn't. This is all I got for my name is Sheena. Mon nom est Sheena More specifically I am looking for the name Sheena in French. If you can help it is greatly appreciated. Can ANYONE tell me where I can find a website to translate English names to French?
Most names cannot be translated. You can look for the French equivalents, but you cannot expect a translator to do that.
Also, you don't have to translate your name if you introduce yourself to someone.
My name is Sheena Moor. = Mon nom est Sheena Moore.
French forms of your name are Jeanne and Jeanette. But like I said, it's not necessary to use those. Can ANYONE tell me where I can find a website to translate English names to French?
I agree with Sedora. Mon nom est Sheena or Je m'appelle Sheena is correct for me. Sheena is your name, and that's it.

2. The sheets for my bed are white and black
- Les draps pour mon lit sont blancs et noirs.
3. There is one picture on my wall
- Il y a une peinture (OR une image) sur mon mur.

btw, if you have more problems in translating french you can go to www.freetranslation.com
the translation is only good if you use like max. 3 words per translation. if you translate sentences, they'll be improper. but it shouldn't be too hard if you know basic French!
GL!
I am a NATIVE speaker. I live and grew up in Montreal, Quebec, Canada:
Le bureau est rose.
Mes draps (pour mon lit) sont blancs et noirs.
Il y a une peinture/photo/affiche sur mon mur.
Les fen锚tres sont grandes.
You can omit pour mon lit as it is understood that ''mes draps'' means '' my bedsheets''
A painting is ''une peinture''
A picture/photograph is ''une photo''
A poster is ''une affiche''
I hope this helped

Which online Tagalog /English and English Tagalog Dictionary can you recommend.?
I started learning Tagalog 3 weeks ago. What I did not know then is that not everyone in Phillipines speak Tagalog. Everybody understand Tagalog but in certain areas people speak, for example, Visaya or Cebuano or Bicol or whatever other language. Also people in Manila speak Tagalog but some of them are not able to understand Visaya. For a beginner like me this is a nightmare.
I bought 2 different dictionaries but most of the time the word I am looking for its meaning it is in neither of them. (lately I became aware about the root word it helps to know about it but it does not always help) particularly when the root word is not in th dictionary.
So can someone recommend a fully comprehensive dictionary Tagalog -English and viceversa.
Also is there any online dictionary that is good . Not necessarily it has to be free. but it has to be pretty good. Online dictionaries have the advantage (I think) that they have not limits to the number of pages or entries ... Tagalog grammar is a little bit confusing to me at the moment. I know Spanish and it helps somehow to understand Tagalog but it is not always the case , So I used English and Spanish to understand Tagalog. Any comments to help me to learn Tagalog faster. Is there any electronic translator similar like those pocket size translators English /Spanish or English /French etc etc Maraming salamatWhich online Tagalog /English and English Tagalog Dictionary can you recommend.?
Tagalog is the most widely understood Philippine language. Cebuano has more speakers, but more people understand Tagalog. With that said, people who speak a different regional language may understand, but not speak Tagalog (since it is a required subject at school), while those who live in Tagalog-speaking regions usually cannot speak/understand other regional languages.
Knowing the root word is imperative when using a Tagalog dictionary. The words are listed only as roots, meaning without the affixes, unless the affix changes the specific meaning. For example, you will probably find both "kakain" (will eat) and "kumakain" (ate) under "kain" (to eat), while "kilala" (famous, to know, to get to know, etc.) is listed separately from "kakilala" (acquaintance).
I cannot think of any "comprehensive" Tagalog dictionaries. In fact, I don't even remember the names of the dictionaries I used in school. One of them had a red, yellow and black cover, while the other one, which was thicker, had a mostly dark red cover. As for online dictionaries, none of them are that extraordinary, but here are a few good options:
Tagalog dictionaries:
Tagalog Dictionary: http://www.tagalog-dictionary.com/
(Pretty useful, except the website doesn't work sometimes)
Bansa.org: http://www.bansa.org/dictionaries/tgl/
(Includes diacritical marks to help with pronunciation)
(Some entries can be misleading, so when in doubt, cross-reference it with another dictionary to get the precise meaning of a word)
Foreignword.com: http://www.foreignword.com/dictionary/Ta鈥?/a>
(Good for many "deep" and sometimes archaic Tagalog words)
Dictionaries for other Philippine languages:
Bansa.org: http://www.bansa.org/dictionaries/
(Has dictionaries for most of the major Philippine regional languages)
Philippine On-Line Dictionary: http://www.bohol.ph/diksyunaryo.php
(Word translations for English, Tagalog, Cebuano and Hiligaynon)
Binisaya.org: http://www.binisaya.com/cebuano/
(Best Cebuano/Visayan dictionary, imho, because it automatically looks up the root word of a search entry. This function is very useful for those who are not familiar with the affixes used in Visayan, and therefore have a hard time finding the root.)

When you get into slang, there is a lot of variety depending on where French is spoken.
Which version do you want?
Oooohhh, Pardon my French....please...!!!

French Canadian online translator?
I have a friend from Canada whose primary language is french (canadian) which is slightly different From French (France) dialect...Does anyone know of an English to French translator online that uses the Canadian Dialect???French Canadian online translator?
You'll find no such thing as a Canadian French online translator unfortunately. Standard (written) Canadian French is just like European French with a few exceptions in vocabulary and is not a dialect in itself.
The slang words/forms we use do not constitute another language in itself and therefore will not be found in a common dictionary and if so, then a regular French online translator will be able to translate them.
You can, however, find Canadian French (or Quebec French) ''dictionaries'' either online or in bookstores.French Canadian online translator?
No but if there's not much to translate I can do it :DFrench Canadian online translator?
you can always use google or altavista.ca but like the person before me said, we can help you if its not long :D
If you so wish... but translator programs are far from being reliable (not yet). Useless "utilities". They just make it difficult, even for a native speaker, to make any sense of it. Unfortunately for them, senders of automated "translated" text don't look serious....
Canadian French IS French. None of these are "dialects". Of course there are some differences, that's the beauty of any language, and even in France, you find regional variations.
In this forum, some members are definitely French speakers and do not use online translators. To quote a few, I am sure you can trust America, Curious-lalala, Dori, Erik van Thienen, and even Antipode.
I am sure we will be happy to help.

freetranslations.comI麓m searching for an online translator: English into simple Japanese (romaji)?
There is google language tools, and if you search for other translators on the internet then they will work fine. BUT they will most likely be rubberish.
For example: On the google one, I typed "銇斻仠銈撱€€銇忋仒" and it spit back: "lottary a.m."
This just shows that it usually only does one word translations in Japanese. For English to French translations, Google is okay-not the best.
If you want Japanese translations, I would just post them up here and have someone translate it for you.
Hope this helpedI麓m searching for an online translator: English into simple Japanese (romaji)?

Does anyone have a easy, short french poem with an english translation?
I am doing something in french called "Prof du jour" and my teacher told me to find a short easy french poem to read to the class and to make sure the poem is like a paragraph and to have really easy words such as "Demander" or "regarder". I also don't know how to translate a french poem in french and I am not allowed to use a english translator on the enternet -.-
Thank you so much guys :)Does anyone have a easy, short french poem with an english translation?
Je souhaite dans ma maison
Une femme ayant sa raison
Un chat passant parmi mes livres
Des amis en toute saison
Sans lesquels, je ne peux pas vivre
[Guillaume Apollinaire]
I want, at home,
A sensible woman
A cat that walks among my books
And faithful friends
Without these things I cannot live.
....
Apollinaire says 'des amis en toute saison' :: 'friends in all seasons'. He means he doesn't want just fairweather friends, so I have translated it 'faithful friends'.
Apollinaire had an unusually interesting life. He wrote one of the most famous lovepoems in French (Le Pont Mirabeau). He was seriously wounded in WWI, but recovered, only to die in the 1918 Spanish 'flu epidemic.
He wrote what many people consider the first truly modernist poem (Zone), probably invented the word Surrealism, and developed a kind of poetry called a Calligramme (second link).

How much is French related to English language?
English came from a lot of French and German didn't it?
How come it sounds nothing like it?
like French has that nasal "throat" sound whatever it is, but English people don't.. So how did people who started making English get rid of that sound??
I noticed when I use an online translator from French to English, the translation is like 85% perfect with almost no English errors. I thought maybe that had a lot to do with English being similar to French.. if you did the same with Japanese and English translation, it would be a total mess. How much is French related to English language?
English and French are Indo-European languages, but from different branches. French is derived from Latin and English is in the Germanic group. English borrowed a lot of words from French after the Norman Conquest (1066), and borrowed other words directly from Latin, especially in the fields of religion and science.
Japanese is structured completely differently than English. You can't do a word-for-word translation. In the olden days when VCRs roamed the earth it was always worth a good laugh to read the instruction manual, which was written by a Japanese engineer in English.

What is the best site for english french translation?
I am from canada and my cousin is from france. She can speak no english and I can speak no french. I have found that translators such as babel fish leave us guessing as to what the other has said. Any better suggestions? Thanks. What is the best site for english french translation?
Babelfish is a good as any other. Online translators don't work because translation is about context, for example the word 'fly', it could mean the insect or the verb like when you're on a plane. A computer just doesn't know and those words in French are very different thus resulting in bizarre translations. I suggest having a dictionary handy and looking up important words.

Translator to translate french docs to english?
got some frog documents need it translating into english. using a scanner what is the best way of doing itTranslator to translate french docs to english?
Mariana is right. Computer translation is terrible. Only use it if you just want the gist of something.
If you want to do the automatic translation, you need OCR software that is capable of scanning French texts like http://www.simpleocr.com . Then you can go to http://www.google.com/language_tools . It'd be better to put them up as web pages to do this.Translator to translate french docs to english?
I don't know where you are or what those documents are about, but I work with societary law and I know for a fact that some kind of documents, such as power of attorneys, bylaws, shareholders' meetings and other documents need to be translated by a sworn translator to be valid for tribunals, notaries, ministries. In this case, you can send the sworn translator the scanned version of said documents, but you'll have to hand in the original ones as well so they can be stamped and signed by the translator.
If those documents don't need to be legally valid where you are or if you have no legal purpose for them (i.e., translation of a literary text), you can basically contact anyone fluent in French and send them the scanned version. I think it works just fine.Translator to translate french docs to english?
I would use googles transalater.
You go on to google and you see on the right hand side of the box there are a list of three things at the bottom there is a thing called language tools click on that and you get googles transalater.

Is the English language closer to French or German?
In vocabulary.
Looks like many words in English didnt come from germanic languages.
I took this from google translator:
English - german is completely different
German - Deutsch ist ganz anders (very different)Is the English language closer to French or German?
Anglo-Saxon (Old English) was a Germanic language, so the basic form (grammar) is closer to German.
But because of the influence of French through the Norman Conquest, there is a lot of vocabulary taht came taht way.
(PS nothing to do with the Romans - they left when the Angles and Saxons started arriving.)
Well, German has also borrowed a lot of words of Latin, French and Greek origin, just as English. Nevertheless, English is a Germanic language and there are many similar words, but of course also different ones. Here is a list with similar words used in English and German language: http://de.wiktionary.org/wiki/Wiktionary鈥?/a>
By the way, you can translate "completely" to "komplett" in German. So you could say in the sentence you mentioned above: "Deutsch ist komplett anders." (though "ganz anders" is also correct.)Is the English language closer to French or German?
Good question.English is said to be one of the Germanic languages however it is quite different than the others.English shares a lot of words with French which came from the Latin which the other Germanic L. do not have.Ex. -necesity-Dutch-noodzakelijkheid.It is very much like this with many words in German too.In English the word order is different.Another thing in English we use the -to do-form which I don't think any other European L. has.Ex. Do you love me? I don't know. However both German and French have a much more complex grammar.
Hello,
Half and half. Its technically classed as a Germanic language but because of 400 years of Roman occupation then the Norman conquest of 1066 AD, it has a heavy Latin influence as well.
Cheers,
Michael KellyIs the English language closer to French or German?
Actually, the vocab of both is pretty darn different.
But French grammar is more similar to English grammar.
I speak all three languages. I think that French is a lot easier to learn than German.
The answer is German. You don't notice it in sentences, but in many words.
german is way closer... the english language actually is a derivative of the german language!

How would I say this:
a) I remember how I would think it was unfair for me to like my teddy bear more than my other stuffed animals.
b) Today, if people want something, they will do anything to get it. In the movie, the balloon was popped because the children would rather no one have it than the boy have it.
c) I think that if people the same age as the boy were to watch this movie, they would be attracted to the balloon as well, and would overall like the movie.
p.s: don't run this over a translator; it's not correct

a) I remember how I would think it was unfair for me to like my teddy bear more than my other stuffed animals.
b) Today, if people want something, they will do anything to get it. In the movie, the balloon was popped because the children would rather no one have it than the boy have it.
c) I think that if people the same age as the boy were to watch this movie, they would be attracted to the balloon as well, and would overall like the movie.

French Translator - Help Find?
Well school starts in two weeks and I'm going to be living there. Yet once there, I will not have internet on my laptop, and I do much of my homework on it. I am going into French III, but well, to be blunt, I'm horrible at it. I am learning it, slowly, but I was wondering if there was a translator that I could download that would translate from English - French and French - English. It would also have to be able to work offline, and possibly do more than single words (like whole phrases, sentences, etc.).
I don't need something that will teach me phrases or stuff like that, just a translator. And if you can find one that would require payment, just post the link to that.
Thanks.

Babylon is the best!
You'll have to pay for it, but it does really well. One of the things I like, is you can right click on a word and the definitions pop up in the other language! When you order, make sure you actually DOWNLOAD the dictionaries you need! There should be several for French.
Have a great year!

What your asking for is something to do your homework for you.
number 1. those automated translators are useless. yes, they can translate simple words and phrases, but think about it- its a computer. only a native french speaker would be able to translate things perfectly for you. you teachers will know if you use it, trust me.
number 2. what will happen in the middle of your exam? they won't let you run to your computer for a sec. You'll not have a clue whats going on, so save yourself the embarrasment and forget it.
French is a beautiful language, and you make it out to be a very difficult language, which it's not. tell your teacher your having trouble and if they are any good theyll sit down and help you. heck, ill even help you if you don't understand it.
Just don't get someone/thing to do your homework fo you. Youll will get caught on.merchants tire jp cycles

Easy French Question help please?
En Francais is correct. It is the correct tense. It means in French.
"En Fran莽ais" is "In French" (for something you would write directly in French), or "Into French" (for something you would translate from English into French), but by itself, it really doesn't mean anything.
"Fran莽ais" is simply "French", adjective, noun, anything... and in particular the subject/name of the class/whatever.
"Le Fran莽ais", would either be "The French" (as a person), or "French" (as a language), but definitely not as a subject.
I think you now have all the info you need to choose, but if your teacher said "En Fran莽ais", you shouldn't try to be a smartass and double-guess her. The best thing to do would be to go talk to her about it, maybe showing the first part of this reply...Easy French Question help please?
Ok...
"en Francais" means "in French" a"Le Francais" just means French as in the subject.
So it all depends on what you would like to write. Your title could either be the subject, or it could mean that what you've written is written in French.
On a title page, it should say "Le Francais", with the accent circumflex underneath the "c". It is more proper than saying "En Francais", which could literally translate to "in" French.Easy French Question help please?
Don't worry about what everything else says, just do what your teacher wants you to do, she's the one who's gonna be grading you. If that's the way she says it is just do it that way.
All three are correct depending on the situation.
Je parle fran莽ais.
Tu apprends le fran莽ais.
En France, il faut communiquer en fran莽ais.
What are you trying to say? =]
It's Le Francais. That is the noun form of french. Your french teacher has no idea. En Francais means literally 'in french' en being the perfect of in.

I would be much obliged if someone could translate the French lyrics of the current no. 6 song in France ("Gar莽on" by Koxie) into English, as I have been able to find no English translation online. Please - don't use an online translator...
The French lyrics can be found here: http://www.musicloversgroup.com/koxie-ga鈥?/a>
Many thanks in advance!|||Here ya go- That's a funny song!
A while ago
riding on my scooter in Paris,
From a car, at the red light, this guy says
"Hey Lady, what time is it?"
I answered: "noon"
He says: " Lady you are fine! wanna give me ****?
His buddies laugh. I didn't get it right away.
I answered: " Hey Big guy, that's not how you talk to people! You wouldn't want someone talking to your Mom that way."
The guy looks at me with a face like a watchdog and goes:
" aight don't talk about my mom or I'll smash you"
I answered :" Chill Alphonse. I don't know you, you're assaulting me. What's with the lack of subtelty? Weren't you taught to treat women like Princesses?"
He says: "Yeah but you I'll screw!"
I tell him: " Well actually no...This is sick"
Chorus
( Guess I kinda have to explain this cuz it doesn't translate- It's a play on the word for boy... She says if you remove the "cedille" which is the little squigly under the letter C in "Garcon", Boy becomes "watch out Jerk" so she is telling the girls to watch out for the jerks who lose their "cedille")
I kept on my way. At the next light I hear: "Hey fat Pig!Whenever you want, I'll take you"
It's Alphonse again with his Penis head
I tell him:" Now you're pushin it, it's indescent!
I can't believe this, comme down off your planet!
You act like you're Tony montana but you don't even have any hair down there!"
He tells me:" Don't be so rude, you'll see where I'm gonna stick it!"
"You say I'M being rude???That takes the cake! I must me dreaming! Who do you think you are??? Stop it now."
I step down, He gets out
I say: " This is BS! what you gonna do? I want apologies, I'm waiting and I won't let this go!"
He says to me: "No- You apologize, old witch!"
"That's a good one! I told you the time, I should have kept my mouth shut!"
(Chorus)
This is how some guys talk- Shameful! They need a good lesson.
You wanna play? We're gonna play!
I tell him:"Pull down your pants! You're all talk no action. You asked me to give you ****."
All of a sudden Alphonse has a revelation.
He gives in and tells me: "Yeah go on- it's all good- Let go of me. I'm sorry"
I tell him:" That's good. Now you seem like less of a jerk"
It's not normal to have to talk to women this way.
There's a serious educational problem!
"However, I'm sure you have a good core."
he says:"You're right- I feel like a dork- My friends were pushin me, it's peer pressure!"
I tell him: " It's ok don't cry."
Alphonse melts into my arms and cries
I tell him;" You need love that's obvious. Come here, gimme a kiss."|||I know you said not to use an online translator, but I did anyways. Here you go, hope this helps

Can somebody translate this without a a english to french translator?
It was the Christmas of 1914. A shot hadn't been fired since teatime, and a couple of my machine gunners had gotten together to sing some Christmas carols. Then one of them started pointing outside the trench and towards the Germans. I immediately walked over, but by the time I got over there a crowd had already gathered along the edges of the decaying dirt walls. I elbowed my way past the grimy bodies and saw it. I hadn't seen anything like it before. Rows of burning candles sat along the edges of the German's trenches, shinning and flickering like the souls of the dead. Somewhere down the line a tree decorated in shrapnel was pushed over the edge, and the deadly metal glinted as an chilly breeze brushed by. "Silent night, holy night; all is calm, all is bright." The Germans were singing. I --we-- joined in.
It turned into a party. A football was kicked around like it was the source of holiday cheer, and I saw a soldier giving a an oddly docile, long haired German a haircut. Even I flinch when automatic clippers creep up the back of my neck. One of the Germans-- he was a large guy with hair that would probably be bright blond if washed-- walked over and started motioning at me. "What?" The guy tapped one of the buttons on my uniform and then pointed at himself. Ahh-- he wanted my buttons. I smiled at this. I happened to be a bit of a collector myself, and who could say they had buttons off a German soldier? The guy produced some wire clippers and deftly snipped off the two lowest buttons on my uniform. I returned the favor, and walked away with two new buttons that glinted like bullets.
A combination of a funeral and a church service attracted a crowd when frost started nipping at our feet. The stench of rotting bodies mixed in with the scent of bacon, oranges, and Christmas pudding, and I didn't know if I was supposed to be ecstatic or repulsed; I hadn't eaten this well since I was moved to the front lines. Then, the generals arrived. Apparently they weren't too happy about our impromptu ceasefire. They shouted quite a bit and their voices reminded me of the hoots of dropping shells; maybe that's because that's what followed. A rifle was shoved into my hands, and I found myself automatically pulling the trigger. The smell of fresh death started again, and I couldn't help but wonder; had I killed the man who collected buttons? Can somebody translate this without a a english to french translator?
