FRENCH: what is the PROPER translation for this song?

Cet Air-La by April March.

http://www.seeklyrics.com/lyrics/April-March/Cet-Air-La.html

I've already done the french to english translators, they don't fully make sense, so any french speakers out there care to elaborate for me?

thank you!FRENCH: what is the PROPER translation for this song?
What part in specific? Haha.

I don't feel like translating the whole song..

xPFRENCH: what is the PROPER translation for this song?
Quand ils sont longs les jours de pluie

Quand je suis seule quand je m'ennuie

Que dans un rythme monotone

Au fond de moi ton nom r茅sonne

When the rainy days are long

When I'm alone, when I'm bored

In a monotonous rhythm

Your name resounds within me.

Il me reste cet air-l脿

Qui vient me parler de toi

Car en chantant cet air-l脿

Je ne peux penser qu'脿 toi

That tune stays with me

the one that speaks to me of you

'cause when I sing that tune

I can only think of you.

Lorsque tour 脿 tour dans ma vie

Que je n't'ai pas vu de la semaine

Que je dis comme une litanie

脌 mon oreiller que je t'aime

Time after time in my life

when I haven't seen you all week

I say like a litany

into my pillow that I love you.

Il me reste cet air-l脿

Qui vient me parler de toi

Car en chantant cet air-l脿

Je ne peux penser qu'脿 toi

That tune stays with me

the one that speaks to me of you

'cause when I sing that tune

I can only think of you.

Sur le triste quai d'une gare

Si un jour la vie nous s茅pare

Ou que ton c艙ur change de route

Moi j'aurai le mien en d茅route

On the dreary platform of a railway station

If one day life separates us

Or your heart changes direction

Mine will be turned upside down. (kind of poor--I think en deroute means "messed up, turned around, turned topsy turvy" sort of thing)

Il restera cet air-l脿

脌 jamais au fond de moi

Car pour toujours cet air-l脿

Parlera de toi et moi

That tune will remain with me

forever within me

for always that tune

Will speak to me of you.

Il restera cet air-l脿

脌 jamais au fond de moi

Et je sais que cet air-l脿

Te ram猫nera vers moi

That tune will remain with me

forever within me

And I know that that tune

will bring you back to me.

  • Can someone translate this small bit of text from French to English please?

Hey, there's a small paragraph or two I need translating, but it's on a flash-based site, so translator sites won't work on it.

If you can translate that to English, it'll be really appreciated! %26lt;3Can someone translate this small bit of text from French to English please?
"Seven" was composed and made in 7 days... In a definitely metal style, i most of all wanted to express the urges that this musical style conveys.

Obviously, "Seven" is for connoisseurs (metalheads, guitarists, musicians..) but who knows, maybe people who don't usually listen to metal will like it too.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to some samples.

You can also buy it (download it), if you really like it, and thus have all the songs (optimal quality) by clicking the button below.

Seven has been composed and realized in 7 days .. In a style decidedly metal, I mainly wanted to externalize certain impulses related to this style of music. It is certain that "Seven" has directed more informed public (metalheads, guitarists, musicians) ... but who knows, maybe that will appeal to those who listen less metal.

Thank you to you for taking the time to discover these excerpts. You can also buy (download), if this is really nice and so you have the entire song (Best Quality) via the button below

Or something like that. Hope it helps

"Seven" was composed and directed in 7 days...

In a style resolutely metal, I have always wanted to show

Doe anybody know any english to french translators online? i need to know the word: was?

http://babelfish.altavista.com will theoretically work fine, but please be aware that English and French conjugation differ -- in other words, there is more than one word for "was," depending on the subject and there is more than one past tense. I'll give you the complete conjugation here:

    1) L'Imparfait de l'Inicatif -- used to indicate a) an action that was going on in the past at the same time as another action (I _was listening_ while you were talking); b) an action that was going on in the past when another action occurred (I _was eating_ when you called); c) an action that a person habitually did (He _used to drive_ every day); d) a description of a mental or physical state (He _was_ happy to see her); and e) an action or state of being that lasted for a certain length of time prior to another past action (I _had been waiting_ for an hour before the bathroom was free).

    j'茅tais

    tu 茅tais

    il/elle/on 茅tait

    nous 茅tions

    vous 茅tiez

    ils/elles 茅taient

    2) Le pass茅 simple -- Expresses an action that took place at some deffinite time. It is now used more or less only in formal writing except in the case of 锚tre and avoir. (I _went_ to work).

    je fus

    tu fus

    il/elle/on fut

    nous f没mes

    vous f没tes

    ils/elles furent

    3) L'imparfait du subjonctif -- Used after a verb that expresses some kind of preference (I wished you _were_ here); after a verb that expresses some sort of emotion (I _was_ sorry to see you go); after certain conjuctions (I would have left unless she _came_ -- I would have stayed until she _came_ -- Although I _was_ the smartest in the class, I failed the test. -- I gave her directions so that she _could come_); and after certain impresonal expressions that show need, doubt, possibility, or impossibility (It was urgent that she _came_). To make matters worse, it's only used if the action wasn't completed.

    je fusse

    tu fusses

    il/elle/on f没t

    nous fussions

    vous fussiez

    ils/elles fussent

    4) Le pass茅 compos茅 -- Expresses an action that took place at no definite time. It's used more in conversational French and informal writing and is more and more replacing le pass茅 simple. (He _went_ to school/He _has gone_ to school)

    j'ai 茅t茅

    tu as 茅t茅

    il/elle/on a 茅t茅

    nous avons 茅t茅

    vous avez 茅t茅

    ils/elles ont 茅t茅

    5) Le plus-que-parfait de l'indicatif -- Expresses an action which happened in the past before another past action. (I already _had heard_ what she was about to say)

    j'avais 茅t茅

    tu avais 茅t茅

    il/elle/on avait 茅t茅

    nous avions 茅t茅

    vous aviez 茅t茅

    ils/elles avaient 茅t茅

    6) Le pass茅 ant茅rieur -- similar to the one above, but, like le pass茅 simple, used more in formal writing.

    j'eus 茅t茅

    tu eus 茅t茅

    il/elle/on eut 茅t茅

    nous e没mes 茅t茅

    vous e没tes 茅t茅

    ils/elles eurent 茅t茅

    7) Le conditionnel pass茅 -- Expresses what one would have done. It is formed with le conditionnel pr茅sent of either 锚tre or avoir. (In the case of 锚tre, avoir).

    j'aurais 茅t茅

    tu aurais 茅t茅

    il/elle/on aurait 茅t茅

    nous aurions 茅t茅

    vous auriez 茅t茅

    ils/elles aurient 茅t茅

    8) Le pass茅 subjunctif -- expresses an action which took place in the past in relation to the present time. (It's possible I _was_ gone at the time). It can also be used the same way as l'imparfait du subjonctif if the action was completed.

    j'aie 茅t茅

    tu aies 茅t茅

    il/elle/on ait 茅t茅

    nous ayons 茅t茅

    vous ayez 茅t茅

    ils/elles aient 茅t茅

    9) Le plus-que-parfait du Subjonctif -- The last one (thank God). It's the same as l'imparfait du subjonctif, except you use this one if the action was completed and only in formal writing. If speaking conversationally or writing informally, use le pass茅 du subjonctif.

    j'eusse 茅t茅

    tu eusses 茅t茅

    il/elle/on e没t 茅t茅

    nous eussions 茅t茅

    vous eussiez 茅t茅

    ils/elles eussent 茅t茅

    is the one I use.

this is a direct link to "WAS"

    http://www.wordreference.com/enfr/was
depends on the subject. look for a verb conjugation chart, and find the past tense of the verb "etre" (=to be)
was is translated 'etais' for 1st and 2nd person, and 'etait' for 3rd person.

This only works if you 'was' is not connected to another verb like 'I was washing the car.' This would be 'Je lavais la voiture.'

Can you translate this sentence in French to English?

je sens tout 脿 coup le besoin de lui parler, de lui raconter ma triste histoire, et c'est ce que je fais.

------------ All of a sudden I feel the need to speak to him, to tell him my story, and that's what I'm doing.

    French-English Translation question?

I'm doing a French to English translation of a text and I can't seem to see clear in one of the questions.

Could anyone who has done translation as a subject help me out with this and give some exemples:

"Explain your strategy for translating the passage, paying particular attention to problems of register, syntax and style which the translator would need to address"French-English Translation question?
The question asks you to explain how you would go about translating the text you have been given, and your reasons for this e.g. would you just translate it literally, word for word? No, of course you wouldn't, because this would produce the sort of nonsensical result that you get when you try to translate something with Google! You would instead first read the text, and once you have thoroughly understood its meaning, you would rewrite the text in English. If the original text has been written in a particular style of language, then you might aim to convey this in your translation e.g. you might decide to translate "nous allons a Mc Do" as "we are going to Micky D's" rather than "we are going to McDonalds", as this will better convey the informal tone of the original. You will be making these sort of decisions when you transalate your text, and the question just asks you to outline them. Hope this helps get you started!French-English Translation question?
I don't understand. Do you want someone to translate this text into french, or is this even the text?French-English Translation question?
If you need help, I speak perfect french
I think you are being asked to "Explain your strategy for translating the passage, paying particular attention to problems of register, syntax and style which the translator would need to address"

So you need to translate the text, explain your strategy for translating the passage, and then discuss any difficulties you encountered.

That's my best guess. Bonne chance!

  • What type of schooling do you need to be a translator for the Canadian government?

I am fluent in four languages: Spanish, French, English and Hungarian. I could use some brushing up in grammar, since I don't use French or Spanish as often as I used to. No one taught me how to write in Hungarian, but I can read it. It just takes me a while to write it, and I have to use a dictionary to make sure I'm not spelling it wrong. I'm working full time in a hotel and I have a lot of free time to go back to school if I want to. I want a job where I can get Christamas or other holidays off and get a weekend off in the summer if I ask a month and a half in advance. Even when my hotel is full it's quiet because it is a suites hotel, so we get a lot of long term guests(not as many coming and going). I love talking to guests from different countries and practicing my languages, however I'm bored and not challenged enough. It's neat because I can watch TV and surf the net, but I can only do so much of that. What type of schooling do you need to be a translator for the Canadian government?
In the USA the first step is to take a standard civil-service exam. They probably have an equivalent testing process in Canada.

I think that it is probably a matter of CERTIFICATION rather than a specific degree program. You would probably need a B.A.

Go to the nearest Federal Government Office building and look for a personnel office (or whatever they might call it.)

If the Canadian government is anything like the US government, they will probably give you a test to see if you are proficient enough. Which test you take may depend on the "Job Title" you want to be considered for.

After taking the exam, if you pass, your degree of proficiency, education and work experience will probably qualify you for a specific salary bracket.

Depending on where you work in the government, you might also need (or be able to get) a security clearance.

.What type of schooling do you need to be a translator for the Canadian government?
get a B.A. in a second language and take a proficiency test.
